    Field Spaniel Dogs can make good pets in Mauritius if they match your IifestyIe. Field Spaniels are celebrated for their wonderful personalities. They are calm, loyal, affectionate family pets. Field Spaniels are similar to, but slightly larger and heavier than, Cocker Spaniels. This breed is docile and wonderful with children, but Field Spaniels do not tolerate teasing well. Field Spaniels need to be with people or they may become neurotic and withdrawn. Field Spaniels are very sensitive, especially to the voice of their masters. Training should be firm but gentle. Field Spaniels are best suited to a home with a large fenced yard.

    Field Spaniels are descended from the English Cocker Spaniel. From the 1800's to the 1920's, Field Spaniels were bred to be much longer than English Cocker Spaniels; their length became quite exaggerated. Field Spaniels have been bred with Springer Spaniels to strengthen the gene pool.
